What does it mean to be secular?
Don't sweat it if you're unsure. The term secular means not connected nor pertaining to religion, which is why our group's goal is to promote healthy debate among differing individuals as well as acceptance of those differing ideologies. It is our club's mission to join secularists, humanists, athiests, agnostics, skeptics, and freethinkers together to contribute to society in non-religious ways through what we call "Volunteering without Preaching."
Our first volunteer will be with Athiests Helping the Homeless on Sunday, February the 19th from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. We will be meeting in the TLC lot at 8:20 and carpool from there (bring your donations).
The organization asks for the following items (all of which can be donated directly to them or through our club at any of our meetings):
- toothbrushes - bottled water
- toothpaste (travel size is best) - winter gloves
- socks - granola bars
- bar soap - hand sanitizer
- toilet paper (individually wrapped) - disposable shavers
- shampoo (travel size is best)
We are going to grab some lunch at Magnolia Cafe afterwards, so go ahead and let us know if you'd like to come!
